Allie

Allie

This is Allie. Allie belongs to Deanne of Des Moines. Deanne writes wtih Maggie as one of The Stiletto Girls.

Allie is the little girl who alerted Deanne's mom, who was visiting at the time, that something was wrong with Deanne.  Dee had undergone knee surgery a few weeks earlier and on this particular morning, a blood clot had traveling through Dee's system had left her unconscious on the floor.  Allie alerted Dee's mom to the emergency and an ambulance was called.  Thanks to this little girl!  She saved her Mommy's life.

Allie is an older girl and she's now lost all her teeth so her little tongue doesn't always stay where it should.

Avery

Avery

This little guy is Avery.  He also belongs to Chase and Adrienne from Illinois.  He was a rescue puppy and I do believe he's found a forever home with Chase and Adrienne.

Azriel

Azriel

This is Azriel.  She's 9 and belongs to Renee in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.  Renee raised her for an entire year before her dauther married and took Azriel to live with her. But when Renee's daughter had a baby, Azriel became jealous and had to be returned to Renee.  Renee says it took a year for Azriel to settle back down to the sweet cat she was in the beginning.

Baby

Baby

This is Shir-Lee's sweet wonderful dog Baby (Babe). She didn't get fat until she had her hysterectomy. She was such a good dog.

Baby was a mixed terrier dog. Mutt. She was given to Shir-Lee for her birthday in May. She was 6 wks old.

Babe was the BEST little dog ever. She was sweet and loving and obeyed. She and Shir-Lee were good buddies. She would always listened to her but not the kids. Shir-Lee didn't know she was in heat when she went outside one day with the kids. She never had to put her on a chain as she always knew that she was not allowed to leave the yard.

Well, on that particular day Baby took off, crossed the alley and seduced a dog that was tied out on a clothesline. Needless to say she had puppies. It was a mixed marriage. He was Mexican. She actually broke him off the clothesline, dragged him home to Shir-Lee's side door and wanted to be let in. Shir-Lee got a bucket of cold water and tossed it on them. Pop. Released. Now Shir-Lee had to take Jose home and give his owner the news.

When Babe was little , she looked like a medium size Chihuahua. She had about 6 litters of pups and then had her hysterectomy and turned into the Blonde Pig.

IN REMEMBRANCE

I loved this dog and had a hard time when she became sick and we had to put her to sleep. She couldn't stop coughing. Because she was 14 yrs old with arthritis in her back legs and an enlarged heart, we decided to put her to sleep. I held her in my arms as she passed. So peaceful. She was such an awesome dog.

Bear and Lady

Bear and Lady

Bear (the bigger one) and Lady (the smaller one) belong to Sara of Des Moines, Iowa.  Sara says she wouldn't miss a chance to show off her "Hollywood-cute" babies.

Beau

Beau

This is Beau.  Beau was adopted along with his cellmate, Conner, by Cheryl in Des Moines, Iowa.  Sadly, Beau passed away a year after he came to live with Cheryl and the rest of the gang.

IN REMEMBRANCE OF BEAU

Beau was residing at a local animal shelter in Des Moines, Iowa, along with his cellmate, Conner.  Beau outweighed Conner by 30 pounds and stood a good 6 inches taller.  When Cheryl went looking for a cute doggy to take home with her, she found not one, but two sweet dogs who begged "Take me, take me" and she did.  As you can see from Beau's pic he was a big guy.  Along with his buddies, Conner, Sam the cat, and Cheryl, Beau would share "pack nap" when they all piled onto the couch together.  Sadly, Beau passed away from a freak accident the following year.  You will be missed big guy.

Brennel

Brennel

This is Brennel, a stray who found Renee in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.  He tried to bite at first but now fits right in with the rest of Renee's zoo.  Brennel appears to be around 3, has a zany yowl and gets under your feet when you walk.  Renee thinks Brennel must have been an inside cat as he's well mannered inside.  He has beautiful piercing green eyes and his coat is bold black stripes on a gray background.

Bristle

Bristol

This is Renee's Bristle.  Sadly, Bristle passed away in 2010 at the age of 16.

Charlotte

Charlotte

Charlotte the goose belongs to Richard of Huxley, Iowa.  For the past five years it seems every Spring Charlotte lays unfertilized eggs in a nest and sits on them for three weeks with no results - until this Spring.  No, the unfertilized eggs didn't hatch.  This Spring one of Richard's chickens layed two eggs in Charlotte's nest and Charlotte hatched the baby chicks.  Now, she thinks they're hers.  She's very protective of them and they follow her everywhere.

Cheyenne

Cheyenne

This is Cindy and Cheyenne from Nashville, Tennessee.  Cindy is my niece and she loves horses.

Cisco

Cisco

Cisco chose his owner, Cheryl of Des Moines, Iowa.  The night before Cheryl attended a sale, she dreamed of a black horse with white socks on its back feet.  When she walked into the sale barn, the first horse she saw was Cisco.  He stood looking her in the eye, while ignoring the friends that had arrived with Cheryl, as if to say "What took you so long!"

Conner

Conner

Conner is Cheryl's "little dog".  She says that because he came as a set of two and Conner was the smaller.  At the shelter where Cheryl found him, he had a cellmate who outweighed him by 30 pounds and stood 6 inches taller.  Conner flashed those puppy dog eyes at Cheryl that said "Take me" and his cellmate "Beau" said "Take me, too" so Cheryl ended up with 200 pounds of dog.

Cooper

Cooper

Cooper was adopted from the Furry Friends Refuge in West Des Moines in May, 2017, after Peggy's Lucy passed away. Cooper was 5 and had been released to Furry Friends.  He is an entertaining guy, tries his best to make Suzy Q his playmate.  He has a ways to go with that.  He had been declawed on all 4 feet before Peggy got him.

IN REMEMBRANCE OF HARLEY

In Memory of Our Beloved Harley - January 1, 1996 to March 31, 2007

Our wonderful Harley lived a long and happy life.  He ruled our house with a strong paw.  He was our pride, our joy, our baby.  But the time came when illness claimed his body by bits and pieces and we had to make the decision to let him go, peacefully and with dignity.  We miss you dear sweet Harley and we'll look for you over the Rainbow Bridge.  With much love, mom.

THE RAINBOW BRIDGE

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,

Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.

Where the friends of men, women, boys and girls do run,

When their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next,

Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.

On this golden land, they wait and play,

Til the Rainbow Bridge they cross one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,

For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.

Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,

Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

They romp through the grass, without even a care,

Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.

All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,

Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.

For just at that instant, their eyes have met,

Together again, both person and pet.

So they run to each other, these friends from long past,

The time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart,

Has turned into joy once more in each heart.

They embrace with a love that will last forever,

And then, side-by-side, they cross over - together.
